DALLAS, TX.- Kenny Goss, Co-Founder, and Joyce Goss, Executive Director, The Goss-Michael Foundation, have announced that the Foundation will relocate in mid-March to a newly renovated warehouse site at 1305 Wycliff Avenue at Monitor Street, one mile from its current location at 1405 Turtle Creek Boulevard.

The Goss-Michael Foundation will join a burgeoning Dallas Design District neighborhood of art galleries including Galleri Urbane, the Public Trust and Liliana Block as well as the Dallas Auction Gallery.

“The Dallas Design District has been and is the perfect location for the Goss-Michael Foundation,” said Kenny Goss. “However, escalating rent at our current site dictated the need to move. As a non-profit, we felt it was a prudent decision.”

The single story Wycliff Avenue site will be smaller, at approximately 5000 square feet, one half the size of the current space. The Goss-Michael Foundation curator Michael Mazurek is working with the landlord on the design of the new space. The Foundation is already in transition and closed to the public while packing of the art takes place. The actual move to 1305 Wycliff Ave is scheduled for mid-March.

The Thursday, April 7 opening will feature an exhibition by artist Paula Crown with additional activities continuing during the April 15-17 Dallas Art Fair weekend.

“The smaller, more manageable space allows us to be true to our roots as a Foundation that promotes emerging artists as well as to our legacy of exhibiting leading contemporary British art,” said Joyce Goss. “We are only downsizing in space, not in our art focus.”

The Goss-Michael Foundation will strategically concentrate on three signature programs as part of the move:

1. Artist in Residence– An artist, selected by Kenny Goss and The Goss-Michael Foundation curator Michael Mazurek, receives up to a 6-week residency during which a Foundation exhibition is developed.

• The Goss-Michael Foundation Artist-in-Residence Program launched in 2013 with the goal of supporting the development of artists of diverse age, backgrounds and disciplines. The Artist-in-Residence provides an opportunity for artists to work at The Goss-Michael Foundation in Dallas TX. A solo exhibition is held at the conclusion of the residency and become an important part of the Foundation’s exhibition program. Resident artists have access to the Foundation’s library, and the Foundation staff and interns are available to assist in securing materials and preparing exhibitions.

• The current plan is to have two artist-in-residency candidates each year. Notable artists who have participated in the program include Neil Raitt and Dan Rees. The next artist will be announced in early Summer 2016.

2. (FEATURE) – This program highlights significant Dallas-based artists, selected by Kenny Goss and Michael Mazurek.

• Their work is exhibited in the Foundation’s gallery space alongside renowned British artists.

• Past (FEATURE) artists include Michelle Rawlings and Nathan Green.

3. The Goss-Michael Collection - British Contemporary Art – The Goss-Michael Foundation was created to showcase the British contemporary art from the Goss-Michael Collection. A major exhibition of an artist from the Collection will take place annually, staying in concert with the overall mission of the Foundation. Signature pieces from The Collection will be on display at the new location including works by Damien Hirst, Marc Quinn, Sarah Lucas and Tracey Emin.

• The Goss-Michael Foundation has been approached continually to share pieces on loan. Museums across the United States as well as high profile locations throughout Dallas are in discussion with Kenny Goss and Joyce Goss with regard to loaning important art.
