SEATTLE, WA.- Seattle Art Fair announced the first round of exhibitors selected for the second edition of the fair, co-produced by Art Market Productions and Paul G. Allen’s Vulcan Inc. As it continues to build a robust program to showcase the vibrant culture and diversity of the Pacific Northwest, Seattle Art Fair is also proud to welcome curator Laura Fried as the fair’s Artistic Director. The Seattle Art Fair runs August 4-7 at CenturyLink Field Event center.
In its second edition, the Seattle Art Fair will feature 75 top galleries from around the world with a special emphasis on the Pacific Rim. In the newly created role of Artistic Director of the Seattle Art Fair, Laura Fried will develop a comprehensive curatorial vision and innovative programming for the 2016 Fair. She will be responsible for developing all pre-fair programmatic activities, on-site and off-site installations, as well as talks, panels, and presentations at the fair. Laura Fried is a curator and writer living in Los Angeles, where she most recently organized an exhibition with Jay Heikes and Dieter Roth. From 2007–2011, Fried was a curator at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAM) where she organized significant monographic exhibitions with Spencer Finch, Carey Young, Stephen Prina, Elad Lassry, Manon de Boer, and Richard Aldrich. At CAM, Fried also oversaw the newly created Front Room program, where she produced screenings, projects, and performances with an international group of artists at all stages of their careers. Previously, Fried was a curatorial fellow at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.
