NEW YORK, NY.- De Buck Gallery announces a solo exhibition by New York based painter Sebastian Blanck. The exhibition, entitled Everyday, marks the artist’s debut at the gallery and is on view from March 1 through March 29, 2016.

Sebastian Blanck’s work provides an glimpse into the artist’s day-to-day life. His paintings are populated by a collection of the important figures in his world; his wife, children and friends, in ordinary settings and occurrences. Ephemeral moments like a boy flying a kite, or a woman looking off in to the distance, are captured by Blanck in his journal-like daily painting practice. In an age defined so often by spectacle, Blanck’s focus on the charm of simple moments and close relationships is refreshing.

Blanck uses a collage technique that layers painted paper over watercolor onto stretched paper. His color and draftsmanship vibrantly capture personalities and mood to convey great familiarity with his subjects. Accompanying the paintings in the show are animations which show a step by step development of Blanck’s working process.

Born in New Haven, CT in 1976, Blanck holds a BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, and was selected as Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome in 2001. Widely recognized for his musical contributions in addition to his painting, Blanck has exhibited at galleries in the United States and Europe. His work has been reviewed in publications including New York Magazine, Artforum, Paper Magazine and The New Yorker. Sebastian Blanck currently lives and works in New York.
