PALM SPRINGS, CA.- Palm Springs Art Museum announced the appointment of Michael Miner as the Dorothy and Harold J. Meyerman Director of Development, effective immediately. Miner served as Palm Springs Art Museum’s Associate Director of Development for the past five years, and has been the Acting Director of Development since December 2015. In this new capacity Miner will provide leadership and management supporting the museum’s strategic plan and advancing the fundraising efforts.

In his former role as Associate Director of Development for the museum, Miner’s primary responsibility was managing Major and Planned Gifts, Trustee Gifts, and the Annual Fund. He was instrumental in growing the institution’s base of major gift support, overseeing Legacy Circle and President's Circle, the museum's premier annual funding groups.

Prior to joining Palm Springs Art Museum, Miner was the Major Gifts and Planned Giving Officer at Desert AIDS Project. He has been the Director of Development at the New Center for Arts and Culture in Boston, and the Executive Director at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown, Massachusetts. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Macalester College, the University of Saint Thomas, the College of St. Catherine, and the University of Wisconsin. He served as a theater program evaluator for the NEA; has worked as an actor and director; and has been involved with numerous fundraising and philanthropic associations.

Miner received his undergraduate degree from Lycoming College, his MFA from Wayne State University, and he completed additional coursework in organizational development at the Union Institute in Cincinnati. He and his realtor husband, Chip Marler, are art lovers, ardent museum supporters, and part of the founders group of Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture and Design Center, Edwards Harris Pavilion.
