NEW YORK, NY.- The Garment District Alliance unveiled a window exhibit by New York City-based artist Geoffrey Stein, which is the latest in its ongoing series of public art installations. The display showcases five acrylic paintings, titled E.F., NYC Watertower, Foggy Empire State Building, Night Shadows and Night Traffic.
Located in a street-level window on 28 West 38th Street, the G-System Space at the Wheeler Building, the free exhibit will be available to the public through September 15th. Steins installation is part of the Garment District Space for Public Art program, which showcases artists in unusual locations throughout the year and has produced more than 175 installations, exhibits and performances.
Geoffrey Stein is a tremendously talented artist whose work exemplifies the dynamic, creative spirit of the Garment District, said Barbara Blair, president of the Garment District Alliance. We are delighted to showcase his work through the Garment District Space for Public Art program, and I encourage all to visit this wonderful installation.
A figurative painter, Stein is interested in the tension between abstraction and realism, and his paintings explore the seen and unseen in the world. Acrylic on canvas, Steins E.F. will be displayed in the West Window of the G-System Space, and NYC Watertower, Foggy Empire State Building, Night Shadows and Night Traffic will be showcased in the East Window.
Formerly a reinsurance litigator, Stein began painting full-time in 2000 at the New York Studio School. He received an MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art, London in 2007. Based in New York City, Stein is represented by the Lionheart Gallery in Pound Ridge, New York, and the Minster Gallery in the UK.
