BROOKLYN, NY.- Grace Morgan, the Brooklyn Navy Yard based photographer, is displaying her work titled: Black and White Graffiti at the VESPA Projects Gallery, in Brooklyn, New York from April 2​nd​ through April 28​th​.

The display, a grouping of photographic prints of black and white street art painted in cities around the world, are pigmented ink prints on watercolor paper delivering a super-saturated imagery that translates into an evocative collection of eclectic photos by anonymous street artists. They are sumptuous visual pieces.

The showing coincides with the release of her new book: "Black and White Graffiti" a compendium of 60 – 8 x 10 color images, which is available for sale from the artist, and at VESPA Projects Gallery.

“I walk in every city I visit to find street-art or graffiti…” Grace Morgan states. “…its force strikes me often by its surprise: turning a corner to see a complex huge mural or crouching to see a small sticker amidst a mess of others, or glimpsing a lone silhouette in a doorway. Traveling and walking I have come to appreciate street art in its spirit, aggression, wit and subversiveness. I am stunned by the raw, unschooled talent that it contains. It asks us to reconsider the very nature of art.”

“As I travel and photograph more and more, I am more intrigued by black and white graffiti,” continued Morgan. “There is simplicity and complexity in so many pieces. That may seem to be a contradiction, but just like sparse writing in which a few words can describe a complicated emotion or evoke the touch of an object, a very simple image painted can be surprisingly evocative.”

Grace Morgan is a Brooklyn based multi-media artist, whose street art photography has received international acclaim. For years, she has travelled the world to capture street art: she uses the anonymous unschooled, artistry of graffiti and street art to compose stunning prints. Her first book titled “Street Art Travels” is currently available from the artist and at this exhibition.
