DALLAS, TX.- A Large and Rare Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Windswept Jar, from the Ming Dynasty, was the top lot, selling for an impressive $118,750 during the inaugural Asian Art Signature Auction held April 2 by
Heritage Auctions. Collectors of Asian Art drove the final total sale results to $1,477,744, with many of the pieces exceeding estimates.
"We are tremendously pleased with the results of sale," Heritage Auctions Asian Art Specialist Richard Cervantes said. "Prices were strong for extraordinary lots across nearly every category: blue and white porcelain from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, jade, bronze, paintings and more. This sale meant a great deal to us as Heritage Auctions' first stand-alone venture into the Asian Arts market. That we reached import bidders and satisfied even surprised - so many consignors demonstrated that we are well-positioned and prepared to assemble a fall auction of equal significance. We are proud and very grateful to all who participated."
A Large and Magnificent Japanese Cloisonné-Enameled Cockerels Vase, from the Meiji period, was another six-figure seller, reaching a final sale price of $106,250.
A Rare and Important Chinese Blue and White Dragon Dish, Ming Dynasty, Zhengde Period, circa 1506-21, which shows one of only two known iterations with two dragons to the interior cavetto, sold for $87,500, while a Chinese Carved White Jade Figure: Fu Lion Group on Open Rockwork, Qing Dynasty, also realized $87,500.
