Artist Anthony Benjamin, 70, Dies



LONDON, ENGLAND.- Artist Anthony Benjamin, 70, died. He was born in 1931, and studied with Léger in Paris in 1951. From 1955-1960 he lived between St. Ives and Paris. In 1957 Benjamin studied with W S Hayter at Atelier 17 in Paris, and was awarded French Government Fellowship for painting and printmaking. From 1961 to 1973 he lectured and taught in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. Anthony Benjamin was a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. His work can be found in important public collections including, amongst others, Albright Knox Gallery in Buffalo, NY, Joseph H Hirshhorn Collection in Washington, DC, Kestner-Gesellschaft in Hanover, Germany, Museum of Modern Art in New York, NY, Tate Gallery in London, UK, University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Winnipeg Art Gallery in Winnipeg, AB, and York University in Toronto, ON.
