HONG KONG.- Adrian Cheng, cultural pioneer and founder and Honorary Chairman of the K11 Art Foundation officially announces the appointment of a new team, as part of his ongoing mission to spread awareness and deepen global understanding of Chinese contemporary art. These appointments signify a new phase of development and direction for the foundation since its establishment in 2010, which will allow KAF to continue to position itself as a pioneering curatorial platform for cultural exchange between Chinese contemporary artists and their global contemporaries.

May Xue Mei (formerly CEO, Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art, Beijing) has been appointed Director of Education & Institutional Relations, K11 Art Foundation as well as Assistant General Manager of K11 (Northern China) and Venus Lau Sau Yee (formerly Artistic Director of OCT Contemporary Art Terminal, Shenzhen and Consulting Curator at Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art, Beijing) has been appointed Artistic Director, K11 Art Foundation and Assistant General Manager of K11 (Southern China).

As Director of Education & Institutional Relations, May Xue Mei will enhance global presence for the Foundation, driving its outreach, branding, and strategic planning. As Assistant General Manager of K11 (Northern China) she will oversee every art-related project taking place at the K11 art malls of Northern China.

These significant appointments will continue to establish the Foundation as a world leading cultural institution in its own right as it enters into a new era of global development. KAF has continuously collaborated with a number of world-renowned institutions such as MoMA PS1, New Museum, Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo and Institute of Contemporary Arts, among others, and aims to continue in this vein while adding new insights and perspectives that have evolved from the research surrounding these ongoing collaborations. The robust experience of the new team expands the Foundation’s capabilities in terms of in-house curation and considered programming as it continues to explore and nurture the dynamic artistic output of contemporary China and its context in the wider global environment.

This November, KAF showcases this new direction through four dynamic exhibitions at chi K11 art museum in Shanghai during Shanghai Art Week; .com/.cn, a collaboration with MoMA PS1 looks at regional differences within the digital ecosystem and their effects on contemporary art; Image Core Sample, displays a selection of Adrian Cheng’s private collection of video and photography; Performing Dramas, is the first creative offering from the ongoing collaboration with Centre Pompidou, curated by Yung Ma and New Orient Garden, illustrates a show of works by Adrian Wong.
