DUSSELDORF.- In her first solo exhibition at
Konrad Fischer Galerie titled "Zwischenstände" (Intermediate Results), Louisa Clement introduces conceptual works, videos and objects dealing with the fragility of a, however, presumed or determined status quo as well as with the provisional nature of forms and configurations, and the conscious and unconscious ways of communication.
The gallery walls are partly covered with smartphone glitches - abstract geometric patterns resulting from information overload. Louisa Clement's "Mirrors" reproduce highly reflecting surfaces from sunglasses which do not allow any visual communication besides the own mirror image. In the same way, her video works "not lost in you" are discussing topics like contact, distance and close proximity: the artificial body of a fibre glass puppet is touched by gloved fingers in super slow motion. The fabric hinders a direct contact and even the almost erotic interaction causes just cool distance.

Cordy Ryman is working at the interface between sculpture and painting. His works are made of recycled material: scraps of wood, metal, or cardboard; he paints using acrylic, lacquer, spray paint or encaustic methods. Smaller elements are often arranged into patterns which seem to follow no predetermined order. A ludic but well-organized interplay between color, form, material and surface. In addition to arrangements of single works a huge installation covering two entire walls will be on show.

Merrill Wagner's oeuvre is related to Minimal and Concept Art of the 1960s and 70s in many ways. In painting, the conventional use of color and canvas has been abandoned in favor of alternative material, time, experiment and chance determine the visual performance more than individual brushstroke or painterly style. Wagner applies masking tape onto the subfont creating geometrical structures, straightforward grids, patterns or lines. Arbitrary marks, stains and traces remain referencing the removed tape. In her photographic series Merrill Wagner is recording the disappearing of painted geometric forms on outdoor fences over the years.Merrill Wagner (born 1935 in Seattle) lives and works in New York City.
