Jad Attal, Modern Specialist: “One of my favorite pieces in this sale is the Gio Ponti dresser. We’ve sold a couple of examples in the past but every time I handle one I’m reminded of why they’re so desirable. The simple pairing of an attractive geometric façade against a handsome walnut grain elevates a practical piece into something more. Another work that transcends the mundane is our Paavo Tynell chandelier. The star-like elements suspended by thin brass wire appear to be floating on light. It’s a very special piece and we are delighted to represent it.”

Modern Ceramics & Glass: Sunday, September 23 at 2:30PM, 237 lots
Featuring exceptional glass by Dale Chihuly, William Morris, Dan Dailey, Joel Philip Myers, Michael Glancy, Harvey Littleton, Dominick Labino, Flora Mace & Joey Kirkpatrick, Toots Zynsky, Richard Marquis, Preston Singletary, Stephen Rolfe Powell, Yoichi Ohira, Libenský & Brychtová, Frantisek Vizner, Laura Diaz de Santillana, Marvin Lipofsky, Sonja Blomdahl, Kreg Kallenberger, Jon Kuhn, Benjamin Moore, Tom Patti, Erwin Eisch, Lino Tagliapietra, Cristiano Bianchin, and more. Ceramics by Rudy Autio, Robert Turner, Akio Takamori, Michael Lucero, Claude Conover, Toshiko Takaezu, the Cabats, the Scheiers, the Natzlers, Peter Voulkos, Beatrice Wood, Robert Arneson, Harrison McIntosh, Brother Thomas Bezanson, Ruth Duckworth, Don Reitz, and more.

Suzanne Perrault, Partner + Co-Director, Design Dept: “We are pleased to offer a wonderfully varied collection of glass in the September sale, with most of the top artists well represented, such as several Billy Morris pieces, including a good trophy; fine examples of Glancy and Dailey (one particularly lovely lamp); many Chihuly items with some Venetians and a group of small 1970s baskets; Czech sculptures by Vizner and Libenský/Brychtová; fine Murano items by Ohira, Christiano Bianchin, and Laura de Santillana. There is something for every glass collector in this sale.”
