TULSA, OKLA.- 108|Contemporary announced that Susan Baley, Executive Director of the Swope Art Museum, has been selected as their new Executive Director. Baley will assume the position in November.

During Baley’s tenure at the Swope Art Museum in Terra Haute, IN, she expanded the museum’s audience by adding several ongoing programs, including Art Start for children ages 3 to 5, Second Saturday Studio for visitors of all ages, and Museum on the Move for underserved families. Under her leadership, the museum increased attendance by over 66%. From 1998 to 2015, Baley served as Director of Education of the Fred Jones Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, developing programs such as Art After Noon, Sooner Museum Quest, and FREDtalks: Creative Conversations, Meditation in the Museum. She also held many offices on the boards of the Oklahoma Museums Association and the Mountain-Plains Museums Association.

"We welcome Susan Baley back to Oklahoma where she successfully launched her long career in the visual arts. Her leadership experience is invaluable to us as we look forward to further expanding the reach of 108|Contemporary, its mission, exhibitions, and programming," says Myra Block Kaiser, Board Chair.

Baley has a BFA magna cum laude from Wichita State University, an MA in art history from the University of Oklahoma, and a Certificate in Non-Profit Executive Leadership from Indiana University.

108|Contemporary is a non-profit community arts organization that supports Oklahoma’s contemporary fine craft artists. We envision a community where world-class craft and design exhibition programming inspires and educates audiences of all ages; where Oklahoma’s cultural traditions flourish, and local artists thrive.
