BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The Brooklyn Museum’s Gallery/Studio program offers fun and challenging studio art courses for students ages six to adult. Participants develop art skills through studying the Museum’s collections and special exhibitions (including the retrospective of Brooklyn artist Jean-Michel Basquiat) and experimenting with a variety of materials and techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media. Course themes for young people focus on sculpture, people, power figures, sketching from nature, and self-expression.
Course themes for teens include writing as art, perspective, popular urban culture, and observational drawing and painting. Course themes for adults include experimental painting and works on paper. Each class has ten two-hour sessions. Spring semester classes are offered on Saturdays and Sundays. All levels of experience are welcome.
