ARCOmadrid has been rescheduled for next July to ensure the strongest international presence possible
The international nature of the fair and the quality of the art on display will continue to be essential pillars of ARCOmadrid 2021 at the special 40th anniversary edition.

MADRID.- In light of the exceptional circumstances, IFEMA and the Organising Committee of ARCOmadrid have decided to reschedule the 40th International Contemporary Art Fair to the week of 7 to 11 July 2021. A well-meditated decision based on our determination to offer a fair with guaranteed commercial success for participating galleries, at a time when the situation is likely to be more conducive to international mobility and thus encourage meetings with galleries, collectors and professionals from all over the world, allowing the event to take place in a more stable economic context.

It is particularly relevant that this will be the fair's 40th anniversary, a special edition with a programme with significant international impact. Likewise, the dates in July will give galleries, institutions and agents in the city more time to prepare and work on their projects for ARCOmadrid 2021, and guarantee professionals from all over the world, as well as the general public, a safe environment and better social and commercial conditions.

The international nature of the fair and the quality of the art on display will continue to be essential pillars of ARCOmadrid 2021 at the special 40th anniversary edition. The event will aspire to be a time to meet again and reactivate with new opportunities for the entire contemporary art sector.

As a tribute to 40 years in the sector, the next ARCOmadrid will bring together a selection of big names from leading international galleries that have been loyal to the fair throughout its history. They will be invited to participate in a section called ‘ARCO 40 Aniversario’ - curated by María Inés Rodríguez, director of Tropical Papers and associate curator of modern and contemporary art at MASP, São Paulo; Sergio Rubira, independent curator and professor of Art History at the Complutense University of Madrid, and Francesco Stocchi, curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam, and co-curator of the 34th São Paulo Biennial.

This tribute will be complemented by the content to be presented by the galleries selected by the Organising Committee to take part in the General Programme, and by the participants in the Opening section, who will be selected by Övül Durmuşoğlu, a Berlin-based critic and independent curator, and Julia Morandeira, a Madrid-based curator and researcher.
