The New Modern Romantic Impressionists

In times of peril and uncertainty, people look for a spot of peace and beauty to escape into. The artists from the past understood this to be a reality as well, with their focus on the loveliness of “mundane” moments: a sparkling day on a river, a sun-drenched field of flowers, the crisp breeze you can “feel” within the brushstrokes of a passionately rendered autumn landscape. Impressionism is a movement that has never faded away — the truth and beauty continue to inspire new generations of artists and art lovers with the fascinating rendering of light and color.

The Lovers of Light

Artistic rendering of romantic art prints and artists who are lovers of light and color are apparent in modern Impressionist artworks like, “Early Autumn”, a rich and vibrant romantic art oil painting by Contemporary American Artist Hilary J. England. In this serene landscape, on quiet child looks out upon the placid lake in early autumn, the reddish tinges just beginning to touch the landscape with the impending fall. The twilight is palpable, and the painting conveys a sense of nostalgia, tranquility, and even a degree of loneliness as the solitary child sits in silence. The warmth of the fading light puts her slightly in shadow, adding a degree of mystery to the composition.

Another example of an artwork saturated with light is “By the Fountain”, another romantic art Impressionist original oil painting by Hilary J. England. In this artwork, a young child, her hair bleached dazzlingly white by the high, hot afternoon sun, sits by a water fountain, quietly enjoying her tablet, oblivious to the world around her. The colors of the brilliant flowers contrasting with the cool spray of water in the background give an immediacy to the moment – that first “impression” so many artists are in enamored with preserving.

Artist and Exploration

The exploration of the genre of Impressionism continues for passionate artists who are besotted with the “chasing the light” and the beauty of life in the moment. These impressionist artworks are timeless, and continue to enchant, inspire, captivate, and dazzle generations of admirers. Bright landscape scenes of atmospheric vistas created by lively and luscious brushstrokes seem to invigorate the viewer, leaving them content and refreshed and in a sense, renewed, as they viewer shares the moment with the artist.

This genre of painting continues to be accessible to those admirers who wish to escape the frantic pace of modern life, and create a safe haven in their personal space — an atmosphere of beauty and tranquility, in a style that will never go out of “style.”

Chasing the beauty of the moment has become a pastime many art lovers and collectors can’t get enough of! The astronomical cost of the original Impressionist works leave most collectors out in the cold, but the new crop of romantic Impressionist artists, such as Hilary J. England, allow a new generation of art lovers to collect modern impressionist artworks to enjoy without paying millions of dollars!
