DALLAS, TX.- Heritage Auctions has announced that Michael Wajszczuk, a leading expert in the field of timepieces, has joined its Beverly Hills office as a Consignment Director in the auction house’s Timepieces category.

“Michael brings a wealth of experience and extensive knowledge of global luxury brands and their upcoming releases and potential collaborations, and will be a tremendous asset to our Beverly Hills office,” Heritage Auctions Watches & Fine Timepieces Director Jim Wolf said. “He will make a significant impact throughout our footprint in the timepieces market on the West Coast, and along with the addition last year of Michael Schmidt, will elevate the Heritage Auctions timepieces department to new heights.”

Wajszczuk came to Heritage Auctions after spending 14 years as owner and of Los Angeles-based Modernvintageclassic, Inc., a curating service specializing in luxury goods and watches.

He started his career in the financial industry, as an analyst of the Bloomberg Financial Markets, but switched careers when he realized that “fashion and luxury were my calling.”

Wajszczuk’s expertise evolved out of more than 30 years of collecting – mostly vintage Dive Watches and Chronographs, but also several vintage Rolex Submariners, GMTs and what he calls his “prized Rolex Day-Date bark finish ref. 18248.”

“In addition to the classics, I like unusual pieces that tell a story,” Wajszczuk said, “I got started in the watch business around 2000 when, while in grad school, I took some courses at a local community center in Sydney, Australia. Our final project was to build and host a website. For content I used images of my watch collection which, at the time, was primarily vintage Heuer and Breitling. Once it was up and running and I completed my courses, the website remained up and I was soon inundated with requests to buy pieces from my collection … and 22 years later, and here I am!
“I look forward to growing the Timepiece business with the great team assembled at Heritage Auctions.”

Wajszczuk graduated summa cum laude with a Business/Economics degree from the University of Colorado, and earned a Graduate Certificate in Financial Mathematics from the University of Sydney in Australia.
