SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- Turner Auctions + Appraisals will present Fine Art, Asian Art, Jewelry & More on April 16, 2022, from various collectors and estates. The sale offers a wide range of American and European paintings from the 17th to the 21st centuries; noted artists include Ira Yeager, Salvador Dalí, Thomas Hill, William Posey Silva, Marjorie Jane Reed, and German Grobe. In addition to a Ferdinand Preiss sculpture, there are several works in marble, bronze, or acrylic.

There is diverse array of Asian arts: from China, artwork, a gilt carved panel, cloisonné boxes, a carved armchair, a brass vase, and a pewter and jade teapot; from India, a marquetry box, a 17th-century Somaskanda figure; from Thailand, pairs of bronze and Buddha heads and carved wood statues. There are also a Burmese Buddha, a Tibetan saddle, and Ganesh and Shiva figures. Items from Japan include a chest, swords with daggers, Imari dishes, and a wide selection of Japanese woodblock prints. Among the artists are Ando Hiroshige, Paul Jacoulet, Helen Hyde, Hiroshi Yoshida, Hasui Kawase, Yoshi Toshida, and Kunichika.

Decorative arts are also on offer, including a micro-mosaic snuff box, rock crystal balls on stands, porcelain vases, a birdcage music box, a selection of French parian ware, an antique cased ship model “Flying Cloud,” sterling silver decorative items and serving ware, small furniture items such as red Eames low chairs, mantel and Le Coultre Atmos clocks, gilt frames, a neo-classical pier mirror, Czech cut-crystal tumblers, masks from New Guinea and Africa, various lighting fixtures and sconces, and more. Among the religious items are crucifixes, carved figures, French medals, and a 10k gold rosary. There are also books -- on art history, for children and youths, and a number from 18th- and 19th-century France.

A wide array of fine jewelry includes rings, bracelets, necklaces, pendants, crosses, brooches, charms, and watches for women and men. Many are made of gold, white gold or silver, embellished with gemstones such as diamonds, rubies, Bohemian garnets, sapphires, and lapis, or pearls or enamel. Cameo pieces are offered; a few items are from Tiffany or Cartier. There are also many groupings of rings and other jewelry – gem-set, antique, vintage, or costume. Rounding out the sale are gold coins, WWI silver medallions, women’s shoes from Prada and Bally, a wood-cased music player with 28 tune cobs, stereoscopes with glass plates, and several works on paper: a woodblock print, engraving, and Civil War and other photographs.

Turner Auctions + Appraisals begins its online auction on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 10:30 am PDT; sale items are available for preview and bidding now. The auction will be featured live on multiple platforms: LiveAuctioneers, Invaluable, Bidsquare, iCollector, and Turner Auctions + Appraisals’ free mobile app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Apps ("Turner Auctions"). Lot 28: Salvador Dalí (Spanish, 1904-1989). Title: "The Puzzle of Life." Medium: Lithograph (4 sheets) Signature: l/c in pencil. Date: 1974. Number: 6/250 (per gallery certificate). Size: Two each: 35 12" x 24 3/4"; 24 3/4" x 17 10/16." Condition: No issues. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Beverly Hills Galleries (1980), and receipts of purchase. A gift to the Friends of the Yountville Library in California in support of its programs from an anonymous donor. Estimate $2,000-$3,000.

Lot 42: French 19th Century Rock Crystal Balls on Stands. Pair of French rock crystal balls on footed mounts, 19th century. The crystal balls are set on wood and brass ormolu stands decorated with red scrolling floral boulle work. Size: 17" approx. circumference; 8 3/4"H x 6 5/8" W x 5 5/8" D. In good condition. Estimate $2,000-$3,000.

Lot 260: Ruby, Diamond and 18k Gold Ring. The cluster ring set with 18 round, pear- and oval-shaped rubies, weighing 3.99cts., with 34 round brilliant-cut diamonds weighing 1.45cts., G-H-I/VS-SI; weighing approximately 20.6 grams; size 8 ¼. Estimate $1,200-$1,500.

Lot 218: Ando Hiroshige (1797-1858). Title: Tsuchiyama: Spring Rain (Tsuchiyama, haru no ame), from the series Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road. Print Multiple: Woodcut. Published: Takenouchi Magohachi (Hoeido). Size: 9 5/8 x 14 3/4 in (Horizontal oban). Estimate $800-$1,200.




Lot 11: William Posey Silva (American, 1859-1948). Title: Venice Canal Scene. Medium: Oil on board. Signed: l/l "William P. Silva". Size: 11" x 13 1/2"; 15 1/2" x 18 1/2" (frame). Condition: Several dark stains in sky area; period gilt frame has some flaking/ losses. Estimate $1,000-$2,000.

Lot 39: French Micro-Mosaic Snuff Box, c. 18th/Early 19th Century. The lid with an 18k gold-bordered micro-mosaic scene of a castle bridge with figures by a river; the interior of box and lid with 18k gold inserts. Marks suggest c. 1798-1809; top of box with maker's mark "F[tree?]R[in diamond]," and shield with classical head(?); bottom with "[bald head]/8 [lines] S," and "3[over rooster]." 3 1/8" diam. Condition: Mosaic in good condition; lid with several cracks/old repairs; some separating of gold rim from interior of box. Estimate $800-$1,200.

Lot 157: Chinese Incised Pewter and Jade Teapot. The octagonal teapot with incised cherry blossoms and text on the sides, and a jade handle, spout, and finial. The lid is comprised of two parts, the center one being an octagonal cylinder with a teapot-shaped top/lid. The outside bottom of the teapot is copper. 5 1/2" H x 7 1/2" W. Lot 1: Style of Jan Brueghel and Hendrick Van Balen (Flemish, 17th Century). Title: Satyr Chasing a Nymph. Medium: Oil on copper panel. Signed: signature/inscription on back: "Kur...? H. Van Balen." Size: 8 1/4" x 11 3/4"; 13 1/8" x 16 1/2" (frame). Condition: Several light surface scratches. Estimate $1,000-$2,000. (Photo, top right)

Lot 169: Somaskanda Figure, South India, c. 17th Century. The bronze God figure, standing with knees bent, holds a lotus bulb in each hand. There are two attachment holes at the front and back of the base. 9" H x 3 1/2" W x 3 1/2" D. Estimate $800-$1,200.

Lot 105: Silver Tray with 18th- Century German Coins. The decorative tray was made with 11 inset silver German coins, dates including 1732, 1752, and 1797. 17" x 13 1/2". Marked "300." Condition: tarnish; most of the coins show wear. 964 grams. Estimate $400-$600.

Lot 155: Chinese Gilt Wood Carved Panel of Battle. The two-dimensional gold panel depicts a battle raging within a palace complex, with swordsmen and horsemen, overlooked by women on balconies. Panel approx. 24 3/4" x 15 1/8" x 2 1/2"; encased in plastic box 25 1/4" x 16" x 3 1/2". Condition: Overall good; one sword has fallen loose, crack at top of panel. Estimate $100-$200.

Lot 194: Japanese Sword with Gold and Shell Inlaid Hilt, c. 18th/19th Century. The hilt is inlaid with a multitude of mother-of-pearl fragments and bears a raised gold-embellished ebony device on each side; the metal butt-cap has remnants(?) of gold. The tsuba is incised iron with gold-inlaid decoration of a fan and hat/helmet(?). There are incised diagonally hatched lines on the base of the blade. The wooden scabbard is wrapped in red lacquered plaster strips, originally interspersed with copper wire (now missing except for fragments). Total length 39 1/4". Condition: the blade is in good condition; the metal elements on the hilt are loosened; the lacquer on the scabbard is chipping off, wire missing, with old tape on the end. Estimate $600-$800.

Lot 267: Cartier 18k Gold "Love" Bangle. Circa 1970-80's, the "Love" bangle with screw motifs and closure, with accompanying screwdriver; signed Cartier 750 412255; weighing approximately 30.4 grams; inner circumference: 6 1/2in. (moderate wear evident). Estimate $2,000-$3,000.
