MONTRÉAL, CANADA.- The Symposium Edwin Holgate will take place on Saturday October 1st, 2005 at the Maxwell-Cummings Auditorium, Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion. Free Admission. Just before the closing of the Edwin Holgate exhibition and its subsequent Canadian tour, come and meet the exhibition catalogue’s authors, who are continuing their research on this artist who eralded the rise of modernism in Canadian art between the two World Wars.

Program: 14 h - 2 pm - Holgate's Portraits: A Modern Approach To A Traditional Subject: General Curator of the exhibition and Senior Curator of Decorative Arts, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

14 h 30 - 2:30 pm - "Nudes Without Cosmetics": Holgate, Landscape and the Human Figure - Co-curator of the exhibition, Professor of Art History, Concordia University.

15 h - 3 pm - Edwin Holgate - War Artist - Curator of Military Art, Canadian War Museum.
