Former accountant Pat Tax finds a new calling as FFA adviser

A former accountant turned FFA adviser is making a big difference in the lives of his students. Pat Tax, a teacher at Pierz Healy High School in Pierz, Minnesota, has been teaching FFA (Future Farmers of America) for over a decade now. He is passionate about helping his students learn about agriculture and how they can make a difference in their community through farming.

Tax's journey to becoming an FFA adviser was not a straight path. He studied accounting in college and worked as an accountant for several years. However, he always had an interest in agriculture and farming. He grew up on a farm and his parents were both involved in agriculture. Tax also had a desire to work with young people and help them learn new skills.

After some reflection, Tax decided to pursue a career change and become a teacher. He completed a teaching program and started working at Pierz Healy High School, where he now teaches accounting and FFA. Tax's experience as an accountant has been a valuable asset in teaching his students about financial management and budgeting in farming.

In addition to teaching, Tax is also an FFA adviser. FFA is a national organization for students interested in agriculture and leadership. It provides opportunities for students to develop their leadership and agricultural skills through competitions, conferences, and other activities. Tax helps his students prepare for these events and encourages them to take on leadership roles within the organization.

Tax has made a significant impact on his students over the years. Many of them have gone on to pursue careers in agriculture and credit him with helping them find their passion. Tax has also been recognized for his work with the FFA. He was awarded the Minnesota FFA Outstanding Service Citation in 2017, which recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the FFA.

Tax believes that FFA is an important organization for young people, even those who may not have grown up on a farm. He believes that FFA teaches important life skills, such as leadership, teamwork, and responsibility. Tax also believes that FFA can help students develop a passion for agriculture and make a positive impact in their community.

Tax's story is a reminder that it's never too late to pursue your passion and make a difference in the lives of others. His journey from accountant to FFA adviser shows that a career change is possible and can lead to a fulfilling career that aligns with your interests and values. Tax's dedication to his students and the FFA is an inspiration to others and a testament to the impact that one person can make on the lives of many.
