Fiskars Art Center Presents Remix-Rethought
Anu Tuominen

FISKARS, FINLAND.- The Fiskars Art Center presents the exhibit Remix-Rethought until October 1st, 2006. The theme of the Remix exhibition is transformation. Central to the works in the exhibition is the birth of something new out of a pre-existing idea, material, concept, or phenomenon. The Remix exhibition aims to expand on the more familiar notion of reusing existing materials and products in art works that highlight ecological concerns. In Remix the concept of recycling materials to make art will be expanded to include reusing and developing thoughts, ideas, and phenomena in ways that will allow what already exists to be experienced afresh. In their works the artists rethink, transform, and remix the familiar, and present it in new ways.

Artists involved are among others Anna-Kaisa Ant-Wuorinen, Seppo Renvall, Anu Tuominen, Kari Cavén, Durat Design, Freitag (Switzerland), Han Hoogerbrugge (Holland), Laurent Pernot (France), Anteeksi and Globe Hope Ltd. The exhibition space consists of the Fiskars Village Copper Smithy (c. 800 m2) and, if required, the outdoor space beside the Smithy.
