BERLIN, GERMANY.-Villa Grisebach Auctions announced the Spring Sale of Important Photographs with a remarkable selection of 20th Century Fine Art Photography on Friday, May 26, 2006. Highlights will include photographs by representatives of Modern as well as Contemporary Photography. Names like Diane Arbus (1923-1971), Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004), Walker Evans (1903-1975), the brothers Andreas (1906-1999) and T. Lux Feininger (geb. 1910), Heinrich Kühn (1866-1944), Dorothea Lange (1895-1965), Dora Maar (1907-1997) or Paul Strand (1890-1976) have already become an inherent part of the history of photography, as well as René Burri (born 1933), who is represented in the sale with an original print of his icon photograph of Che Guevara.
For the first time, works by worldwide renown contemporary photographers will be presented in an extra section of the catalog; among them artists like Andreas Gursky (born 1955), Candida Höfer (born 1944), Sarah Moon (born 1938), Shirin Neshat (born 1957), Bettina Rheims (born 1952), and Thomas Struth. (born 1954).
