AMSTERDAM.- Jordy van den Nieuwendijk (1985) is a Dutch-born who lives and works in Australia. He is known for his explorations of everyday objects through painting. His artistic style involves working with primary color palettes and simplified shapes, often organized into series that operate within carefully defined boundaries. His work transcends the traditional dichotomy between abstract and figurative forms, creating a sense of tension with a timeless quality, which could be described as a form of new purism.

In addition to his fine art practice, Jordy van den Nieuwendijk is also a commercial illustrator. He has collaborated with numerous clients, including notable names like Hermès, American Express, The New York Times, and Jacquemus. In his editorial work, he infuses elements of fun and playfulness, which contribute to his unique and recognizable approach.

One of the defining features of Jordy's work is its ability to straddle the line between maturity and naivety. His art often conveys an underlying optimism, which is considered refreshing in the context of contemporary culture. This optimism and playfulness are recurring themes in his work, making it both charming and endearing to viewers.

Jordy's artistry showcases his ability to blend aspects of commercial illustration with fine art, resulting in a distinct and captivating style that resonates with a wide range of audiences.

Jordy van den Nieuwendijk who has used the gallery as a backdrop for his new body of works in Clouseau creating a mystery in each room with his 17 works revealing clues, the footprint (shoe), the tipped chair, the lipstick in the mirror but no one in sight.
