Logo Competition for Online Exhibit of Free Expression

PARIS, FRANCE.- UNESCO and the Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) invite art students to take part in a logo design competition for a project titled "A S.E.A. of Dangerous Words". The objective of the project is to raise awareness and discussions for free expression issues in Southeast Asia, in line with UNESCO and SEAPA's annual celebrations of World Press Freedom Day.

The project is a virtual online exhibit of written, broadcast, and spoken material-- including books, poetry, articles, movies, speeches, paintings, etc.--that have been banned or become the cause of political persecution in the various countries of Southeast Asia.

Starting July, SEAPA and UNESCO will be soliciting and curating items for inclusion in the online exhibit.

Rules and conditions:

A student can enter any number of logos as long as each is unique.
The logo should meet the following criteria:
- It must be original.
- It must convey the potency and vulnerability of words.
- It must use not more than three colours and be usable in monochrome.
- It should not be too detailed so that it works in low resolution.
- Gradients could be a problem in print and should be avoided.
Each entry should be A4 size.
Entries must be submitted in vector graphic, Illustrator (,ai) format.
Each entry must be submitted along with a text file containing the designer’s name, e-mail address, preferred telephone number, and a description of the design elements.
The winning logo will be used in the exhibit as well as well as in all collaterals produced to promote the project.
UNESCO and SEAPA shall have the legal rights of the winning logo.
Only one prize of 5,000 baht will be awarded to the winning entry.
