Exhibition view at Palazzo Reale, Milano, April 2024 @ Michael Adair.

PARIS.- Dolce&Gabbana and IMG announce Du Cœur à La Main: Dolce&Gabbana (From the Heart to the Hands: Dolce&Gabbana) will open in Paris at the Grand Palais from 10 January to 31 March 2025. The Paris showing follows its highly successful debut at Palazzo Reale in Milan where it consistently sold out and garnered international acclaim.

From the Heart to the Hands pays tribute to the values of Fatto a Mano (hand-made), an essential part of Dolce&Gabbana since its founding in 1985. The book brings together a unique collection of Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria garments, exquisite jewelry, and archival treasures for the first time.

Bringing together over 200 of the fashion house’s one-of-a-kind creations for the very first time Du Cœur à La Main : Dolce&Gabbana is an open love letter to Italian culture as the enduring inspiration for Domenico Dolce’s and Stefano Gabbana’s designs. The exhibition traces the extraordinary translation of their ideas, from the heart through to their realisation, by hand. The exhibition also features work by visual artists in dialogue with Dolce&Gabbana’s celebrated designs.

Curated by Florence Müller, scenography by Agence Galuchat and produced by IMG, the exhibition celebrates Dolce&Gabbana as a symbol of Italian style, following the dreams of Alta Moda. Unfolding over a series of ten rooms covering 1,200 msq, it explores the brand’s unconventional approach to the world of luxury, characterised by elegance, sensuality and uniqueness, while also embracing humour, irreverence and subversion. Both archival and new collections are displayed in a series of themes highlighting the many layers of Italian cultural influences at work in Dolce&Gabbana’s approach to fashion design. These themes include art, architecture, artisanal craftsmanship, regional topographies, music, opera and ballet, folk traditions, theatre and of course – “la dolce vita”.

Internationally renowned art and fashion curator, professor, and author, Florence Müller has held the positions of Director/Curator of UFAC (Union Française des Arts du Costume) at Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and of Curator of Textile Art and Fashion at the Denver Art Museum.

Müller has contributed to more than 150 exhibitions globally, including “Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective” at Le Petit Palais, Paris, “Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams” at the MAD, Paris, one of the highest-attended fashion exhibitions ever, “Costume Jewelry for Haute Couture”, at Grand Hornu, Belgium, “Mode et Art”, at Palais des Beaux-Arts, Bruxelles, “Shock Wave: Japanese Fashion Design” at the DAM, “Carla Fernandez Casa de Moda, a Mexican Fashion Manifesto” at the Franz Mayer Museum, Mexico City and “Joséphine Baker: An extraordinary Destiny” in Souillac.

A graduate of Ecole du Louvre, Institut d’Art et d’Archéologie and CNAM, Müller was the professor of Culture of Fashion program at IFM (French Institute of Fashion) for 25 years. Having written more than 40 books, she is a three-time winner of the Award of the Grand Prix du Livre de Mode, from the University of Lyon.
