LONDON.- RM Sotheby’s announced the sale of one of the most significant Formula 1 cars ever to come to market—2001 Ferrari F2001 chassis 211—which is set to go under the hammer at a historic auction in Monte Carlo, just minutes before the qualifying race at the FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAND PRIX DE MONACO 2025.

An icon of Formula 1, chassis 211 is among the most special and sought-after Grand Prix Ferraris ever made, and it played a vital role in building the legend of one of the most celebrated drivers of all time: Michael Schumacher.

On 27 May 2001, Michael Schumacher drove this very chassis to a historic victory, winning the ultimate prize in motorsport—the FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DE MONACO 2001. More significantly still, Schumacher would go on to clinch the 2001 Formula 1 Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships in this very car with a spectacular win in Hungary just 12 weeks later, making chassis 211 the only Michael Schumacher Ferrari to have ever won the Monaco Grand Prix and Formula 1 World Championship in the same season.

Utterly unique, chassis 211 stands tall even among the most celebrated Schumacher Grand Prix cars, but none possess the special magic of this car, which not only took the laurels in the oldest and most famous Grand Prix race in the world but also became kingmaker by carrying its driver to World Championship glory. In the pantheon of Michael Schumacher Ferraris, there is no question that the FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DE MONACO 2001 winner is among the most coveted of all his chassis.

This May, history is set to be made for a second time, as chassis 211 returns to the hallowed streets of Monte Carlo to be auctioned at the site of its most famous victory. Bidding is set to begin at 3:15 p.m. CEST on 24 May, just prior to qualifying at the FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER MONACO GRAND PRIX 2025. The car will be put on display within Formula 1’s prestigious and exclusive Paddock Club™, a jaw-dropping location that places it at the very heart of the action. The auction marks the first time a Formula 1 car has ever been sold at the Monaco Grand Prix, once again writing its name into the history books.

Chassis 211 will be available to view by F1 Paddock Club™ guests on 23 May.

“Victory on the streets of Monte Carlo alone would make this a hugely significant Ferrari, but to do so in the same season that it crossed the line to capture both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships—the first back-to-back Championship double in Ferrari history—takes it to a completely different level. We are very excited to take chassis 211 back to the site of its historic win, and to be able to auction it during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend is an immense privilege.” – Augustin Sabatié-Garat, Director of Sales - EMEA, RM Sotheby’s

A charitable donation will be made from the proceeds to Michael Schumacher’s Keep Fighting Foundation.
