SANTA MONICA, CA.- ROSEGALLERY will exhibit works by Tania Franco Klein at the 2025 edition of The Photography Show, presented by AIPAD (The Association of International Photography Art Dealers).

Tania Franco Klein is an artist based in Mexico City whose multidisciplinary practice investigates themes of modern anxiety, media overstimulation, and the pressures of self-optimization. With a background in architecture, Franco Klein constructs immersive installations that combine large-scale cinematic photographs, murals, and video. Her work engages with the fragmented nature of contemporary existence, exploring how individuals navigate identity, solitude, and performative behavior in a hyper-connected world.

In her series Proceed to the Route, Franco Klein reflects on the disorienting nature of modern navigation and progress. Inspired by the GPS command that urges users back on track, her work presents anonymous figures drifting through ambiguous landscapes—freeways, motels, and deserted spaces—that evoke a sense of being lost despite the abundance of guidance. Through meticulously staged scenes reminiscent of film stills, Franco Klein depicts characters in states of exhaustion and detachment, underscoring the emotional toll of a society that demands constant productivity yet leaves its subjects stranded in uncertainty.

Break in Case of Emergency expands this exploration, delving into themes of catharsis and psychological unrest. Drawing on the Aristotelian concept of tragedy as a means of confronting suppressed emotions, Franco Klein's staged self-portraits position female figures in unsettling, fragmented environments. The interplay between surreal imagery and raw emotion reveals the tension between internal conflict and social expectations. Exhibiting Proceed to the Route and Break in Case of Emergency together highlights Franco Klein's incisive examination of contemporary life—one shaped by displacement, psychological strain, and the search for meaning amid chaos.
