ATHENS, GREECE.- The Benaki Museum presents the exhibit Mexico. The Revolution and Beyond: Photographs by Agustin Victor Casasola, 1900-1940 through December 3, 2006. Agustin Victor Casasola was born in the City of Mexico in 1874. He began working in typesetting workshops at a very young age. In 1912, he founded a photography agency whose motto was We have or will take the photo you need. The collection of photographs that the Casasola put together and conserved for decades is kept since 1976 in the temperature-controlled vaults of the National Photography Library of Mexico.
It is one of the most important photographic collections that can allow us to understand the history and society of the convulsive first half of the twentieth century in Mexico. The exhibition consists of a selection of 92 photographs of different size and is organised on the occasion of the 13th International Month of Photography (2006). Pablo Ortiz Monasterio, the famous photographer and publisher of Mexico is the exhibitions curator.
