LONDON.- New Contemporaries, the leading organisation supporting early career and emerging artists, and Christies Private Sales have partnered on a joint exhibition with Christies London, 75 Years of New Contemporaries. The selling exhibition will feature works donated by acclaimed contemporary artists, including New Contemporaries alumni, and will run from 1924 June at Christies King Street. An accompanying online exhibition will also be live on christies.com from 12 June to 14 September 2025.
This charitable initiative will raise vital funds for New Contemporaries to ensure that emerging artists continue to thrive. This is the first time in the organisations history that it has galvanised support from its artists to raise essential funds in support of its ongoing mission.
Artists donating work to the exhibition include: Hurvin Anderson, Sarah Ball, Fiona Banner, Basil Beattie, Michael Craig-Martin, Andrew Cranston, Tracey Emin, Jadé Fadojutimi, Jake Grewal, Maggi Hambling, Tommy Harrison, John Hoyland, Sang Woo Kim, Sahara Longe, Raúl Ortega Ayala, Emma Prempeh, Laure Prouvost, Abigail Reynolds, Anne Rothenstein, George Rouy, Veronica Ryan, Daniel Sinsel and Nana Wolke.
Founded in 1949 by artists and for artists, New Contemporaries is committed to fostering an environment where emerging and early-career artists are empowered to shape their own futures. Its 75th anniversary, celebrated throughout 2025, marks a major milestone for the history and future of the organisation, with a new artistic vision and a programme of new commissions, public programmes, artist residencies and research designed to create new possibilities for artists.
Director of New Contemporaries, Kiera Blakey: "We are delighted to partner with Christies for this landmark fundraising exhibition, which is an opportunity to honour our legacy and raise vital funds to support the next generation of UK-based emerging artists. Since 1949, New Contemporaries has championed emerging and early career artists and this milestone marks a significant moment in our 75th anniversary year. It would not be possible without the support of the incredible artists who are at the heart of everything we do.
Annabelle Scholar, Senior Client Advisor, Director, Client Advisory, EMEA at Christies: New Contemporaries has been at the forefront of emerging art for over 75 years, and Christies Private Sales is proud to support such a vital platform at a time when its mission is more important than ever. It has been a privilege to work so closely with a charity that is for artists and run by artists and rooted in the fabric of Britains artistic community. We are deeply grateful to all the artists and galleries who have generously donated works in support of this exhibition, which will raise essential funds to ensure that New Contemporaries can continue championing the next generation of UK-based artists.
75 Years of New Contemporaries forms part of our programme of auctions, exhibitions and activities for Christies London Summer Season in celebration of the dynamism and creativity London inspires. The programme includes Post-War to Present, Classic Week, and Christies London third Arab art Summer exhibition Marwan: A Soul in Exile.
