Freeman's │ Hindman Auction Sees Soaring Bids for Iconic Jewels by Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, and Tiffany & Co.
VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, CORAL, DIAMOND, AND EMERALD JEWELRY SUITE. Sold for $343,400.

NEW YORK, NY.- Freeman’s | Hindman’s Important Jewelry auction, held at the firm’s New York saleroom, delivered outstanding results, realizing $3.4 million with a strong 89% sell-through rate by lot and 129% by value. The auction drew spirited bidding from collectors and connoisseurs alike, confirming the enduring demand for exceptional signed jewelry and rare colored gemstones.

Leading the sale was a striking suite of coral, diamond, and emerald jewelry (lot 122) by Van Cleef & Arpels, which soared to $343,400, far surpassing its $120,000 - 180,000 estimate. The suite exemplified the artistry and prestige associated with the renowned Maison and set the tone for a day of remarkable outcomes.

Speaking to her impressions of the sale is April Matteini, Senior Vice President, Head of Department, Jewelry. “We are incredibly pleased with yesterday’s sales results, which speak to the general continued strength of the jewelry market. The results of the Van Cleef & Arpels suite, in particular, recognize the desirability of iconic and fresh-to-the-market designs. It is a privilege to work with such exquisite jewelry. “

COLOMBIAN EMERALD AND DIAMOND RING | Sold for $102,100

Colored gemstones were among the day’s most competitive lots. A Colombian emerald and diamond ring (lot 116) ignited a prolonged bidding battle, ultimately realizing $102,100—a dramatic leap from its pre-sale estimate. The ring, centered by a luminous 15-carat cabochon emerald and framed by pavé-set round brilliant-cut diamonds, stood out as one of the most coveted pieces of the auction.

CARTIER, YELLOW SAPPHIRE, EMERALD, AND DIAMOND RING | Sold for $60,800

Sapphires also performed well, with highlights including a Cartier yellow sapphire, emerald, and diamond ring (lot 119), which achieved $60,800 (against a $12,000 - 18,000 estimate), and a Burmese sapphire and diamond ring (lot 136), which fetched $76,700 (estimate: $60,000 - 80,000).

EMERALD CUT DIAMOND PENDANT | Sold for $191,000

Diamonds with distinguished provenance were another key driver of the sale’s success. From the Collection of Frances Newman, an elegant emerald-cut diamond pendant (lot 114) sold for $191,000, more than doubling its $80,000 - 120,000 estimate.

14.45 CARAT CUSHION BRILLIANT CUT DIAMOND RING | Sold for $159,250

Additional top results included a 14.45-carat cushion brilliant-cut diamond ring (lot 86), which brought $159,250 (estimate: $125,000 - 175,000). These results reaffirm the robust demand among private collectors for high-quality diamonds, prized for their beauty and enduring value.
