Interfaith Art Exhibition Promises Controversy |

HOLLYWOOD, FL.- This exhibition is not the first to attempt to point out common principles in some of the worlds largest religions, but it may be the first with an Afro-centric perspective. Compassion opens on February 9, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. at the Graham Center Art Gallery at FIU.
This art preaches neither gospel nor politics, however it does encourage the viewer to set aside long held assumptions about the nature of religion. Im not trying to change the world. Im just pointing out the obvious from my perspective, said Ford
After its opening at FIU, the exhibition will travel to Gallery 6 in Fort Lauderdale in April 2007, then to Unity Gallery in Buffalo, New York in July 2007. The works, not yet shown publicly, are already stirring up a buzz. It must be said that the works in this exhibition beautifully and lovingly celebrate reverence to the Creator - whatever name one uses to pray - Allah, Jesus, or God.
Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, the Florida Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
