MADRID, SPAIN.- ART MADRID 07 Contemporary and Modern Art Fair will take place at the Pabellón de Cristal at “Casa de Campo”, from February 15 to 19, 2007. The art fair will include 77 foreign and Spanish galleries. Art Madrid consolidates, doubling the exhibition space and the number of galleries. The Modern and Contemporary Art Fair wants to become a Latin American Art reference in Europe.

Art Madrid increases its size. For its second edition, from february 15h to 19th, 2007, the fair will have more space and a bigger number of galleries coming from Europe and America. The exhibition space doubles from last year's at the madrilian “Casa de Campo’s” Pabellón de Cristal. At the same time, the participating galleries amount increases from 50 last year, to 77 galleries admitted by the selection committee, with the special collaboration of Latin American representatives and some important Portugal galleries.

19 international galleries will participate, coming from different countries: Portugal (5), Mexico (3), France (2), Colombia (2), Cuba (2), Germany (1), Argentina (1), Nederlands (1) and Israel (1). Adding 58 spanish galleries coming from Madrid (20), Barcelona (19), Valencia (6), Murcia (3), Mallorca (3), Córdoba (1), Santander (1), Girona (1), Badajoz (1), Pamplona (1), Cuenca (1) and Bilbao (1).

If last year the fair sell artworks for a 7 million euros value, next year the offer will extend to Portuguese and Latin American artists brought by important galleries from Portugal, Colombia, Cuba, Argentina and Mexico. Last year the fair received more than 15.000 visitants, and for the next edition the Organization expects more than 30.000.

Amongst all the Latin American galleries we can stand out some Portuguese ones such as Sao Mamede, Antonio Prates, Perve and Quattro, apart from the Colombian El Museo-Fernando Pradilla and Quinta Galería, the Mexican Oscar Román and Praxis or the Cuban Servando.

The union between Latin American and Spanish Art will be proved in this fair, which will let us to observe the parallelisms and confluences between both cultural worlds

Art Madrid considers that the natural evolution of an Art Fair taking place in a place like Spain it is by growing towards Latin America, opening the doors to a major international knowledge of its artists. In this respect, the Fair tries to become a reference of the Latin American art in Europe.

On the other hand, Art Madrid also contributes to strengthen the importance of Madrid in the Modern Art nowadays, because in February the city will hold very different kind of cultural events as happens in important cities around the world, such as Basel, New York, Miami or London, amongst others. And it also pays attention to a series of collectors that were asking for a more commercial fair.
