NEW YORK, NY.- ART FOR CHANGE, a curated program of online sales and exhibitions at the intersection of contemporary art and philanthropy, is proud to announce the release of Moonlit Siren, a new limited edition print by artist Angela Fang Zirbes. A portion of proceeds will benefit Apex for Youth, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering Asian American youth from low-income and immigrant backgrounds. The print will be available online at artforchange.com beginning at 1 PM, May 19, 2026 EST, in celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Rooted in her personal history as a biracial woman who grew up in the American Midwest, Fang Zirbes’s work reflects a navigation of identity, memory, and cultural inheritance. These threads carry subtly through into Moonlit Siren, in which a dreamlike figure suspended between land and sea explores themes of belonging, transformation, and identity. A reclining female form rests against a crescent moon, her flowing hair echoing ocean waves while her body mirrors the curve of a shoreline. Rendered in monochrome, the piece showcases Fang Zirbes’s layered use of acrylic airbrush, traditional painting, and graphite to create a soft, velvety surface.

Created during her ART FOR CHANGE artist residency in Santa Monica, California, Moonlit Siren grew from Fang Zirbes's deep engagement with her coastal surroundings. The artist reflects on the work's origins: "This work was inspired by the ocean, and the view of the water from my upstairs bedroom. As someone from the Midwest, I have always been curious about the ocean; having the opportunity to make work so close to it felt meaningful."

Each print in the edition is uniquely hand-embellished by the artist. Some works feature hand-rendered pencil and ink details, while others incorporate airbrushed pearlescent and iridescent elements evoking shells, pearls, and bubbles.

Angela Fang Zirbes’ paintings tap into the feelings of isolation, detachment and uncertainty that she has felt as a biracial woman who grew up in the American Midwest. The artist applies airbrushed acrylic onto raw canvas, creating a soft, velvety texture that contrasts with the unsettling content of her work.

Inspired by personal memories, recurring dreams and found imagery, Fang Zirbes’ practice navigates the juxtapositions between the seen and the hidden, light and shadow, reality and memory.
