George Thomas, Tough Guy Red, oil on canvas, 107 x 97 cm.

LONDON, ENGLAND.- Start Space will present George Thomas: Forwards Looking Backwards, on view 8 June 15 July. Start Space is pleased to announce an exhibition of new paintings by Scottish artist George Thomas in his first solo show at the gallery.
Since working with Paul McCartney in 2004 for his European Tour, the artist has been producing work drawing comparisons to recognized film images and figures from the 50s with contemporary fashion images of today.
With a slight tendency to poke fun at just how serious some industries tend to consider themselves George Thomas presents us with situations which are both humorous and witty: from the Miami mobster images immortalized in the film genre of the 50s to the superposed supermodel images we so often aspire to today.
In his compositions we can look at ourselves and recognise at least a small part of what we have since become.
