MONTREAL.- The McCord Museum was awarded the Canadian Museum Association’s Outstanding Achievement Award in the category of Sponsorship. This prestigious prize acknowledges sponsors who have made notable contributions to, and demonstrated support for, museum work in Canada.

The award recognizes the innovative collaboration between the Museum and its partners, Alcan and Cascades, and the tremendous support involved in the production of Transactions, the first outdoor exhibition presented by the McCord along McGill College Avenue. Canadian Museum Association jury members were unanimous in their recognition of the project’s creativity and the bold concept that allowed the exhibition to come to life. As a major partner, Alcan brought this ambitious project to fruition, and further enriched the city’s cultural life.

The McCord Museum’s impressive achievements in 2006 meant that it was also honoured with nominations for two distinguished awards: The Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal and the Grands Prix du tourisme québecois.
