DEKALB, IL.-The Northern Illinois University Art Museum will host the NIU School of Art Faculty Biennial from October 30 – December 8, 2007. The public is invited to an opening reception Thursday, August 30, from 4:30 – 7 p.m. For details on lectures offered in conjunction with the exhibition, please visit the museum website: www.vpa.niu.edu/museum. NIU School of Art Faculty Biennial features recent work by the School of Art faculty, visiting faculty, and members of the supportive professional staff in a variety of studio media including: ceramics, design, drawing, fiber, illustration, jewelry, metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, video, and visual communication, as well as research in art education and art history. Spanning all four galleries of the museum, this exhibition provides an opportunity for the NIU and greater DeKalb/Sycamore community to discover or become reacquainted with the research, ideas, and artwork of these faculty members.

The NIU Art Museum is located on the first floor, west end of Altgeld Hall, the “castle,” at the northwest corner of College and Castle Drives on the NIU campus in DeKalb. The galleries are open to the public Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday 12 noon – 4 p.m., and by appointment for group tours. Pay parking is available in the Visitor’s Lot on Carroll Avenue and at metered spots in front of Altgeld Hall. Free parking is available on Saturdays, and during receptions and visiting artist lectures in the lot northeast of Gilbert and College Drives. Exhibitions are free; donations are appreciated.
