Juliet Kinchin Appointed Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design at MoMA



NEW YORK.- Juliet Kinchin has joined MoMA as Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design. As a curator focusing on the history of modern design, she is responsible for organizing exhibitions, managing the collection, and working on acquisitions for the collection. An internationally recognized specialist in modern design, Ms. Kinchin has published books and articles and helped organize exhibitions on the period from the Art Nouveau to the 1960s with particular emphasis on the Glasgow Style, associated with Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the MacDonald sisters, and on Central European Modernism between the two world wars.

She has held faculty positions in the history of art and design at the Glasgow School of Art, the Bard Graduate Center for Study in the Decorative Arts (NY), and since 2001, as Senior Lecturer in The Department of the History of Art at the University of Glasgow. Ms. Kinchin has also held curatorial positions in the Decorative Arts at Glasgow Museums and Art Galleries and at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. She holds a B.A. from Cambridge University and an M.A. from the Courtauld Institute of Art of the University of London. Kinchin has published extensively on 19th and 20th century design and decorative arts, notably on Charles R. Mackintosh and his Glasgow contemporaries, on E.W. Godwin, and on Hungarian Art Nouveau.
