CORNWALL, UK.- The Royal Cornwall Museum presents A Touching Experience, a new exhibition at the Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro offers a totally different artistic experience, on view through October 4. The exhibition presents works from the BlindArt Permanent Collection. It includes paintings, sculpture, installations and other works of art by artists who are both visually impaired and sighted, the exhibition breaks through traditional barriers in the arts by encouraging visitors to explore all the exhibits through touch.
There are currently 32 works in the collection, all of which are made accessible to a diverse audience through touch, audio description and large print and Braille labels and catalogues.
This is a very different exhibition which challenges perceptions of what visual art should be, said museum director Hilary Bracegirdle. It has been staged at various venues throughout the country and has attracted excellent reviews. Im delighted and honoured to be hosting it here.
