NAPA, CA.-Folk Art enthusiasts will have a unique opportunity to indulge their passion for both antique and contemporary folk art at “Folk Art Festival 2009” to be held on Saturday May 2nd in the beautiful Napa Valley. This fund-raising event will benefit The Museum of Craft and Folk Art (www.mocfa.org) in San Francisco.

“American creativity among the common people, past and present, has been a driving force in shaping the spirit of the American Folk,” said Jennifer McCabe, Executive Director of the Museum of Craft and Folk Art. “On May 2nd this creative spirit will be particularly alive and well in the heart of the Napa Valley. For one day only, a group of knowledgeable dealers and talented artists are coming together to showcase many wonderful examples of both antique and contemporary American Folk Art for our benefit.”

The festival, open to the general public, will be held on the beautiful grounds of Laird Family Estate Winery, 5055 Solano Avenue in Napa, California from 12 Noon until 5 pm. A wonderful array of folk art dealers and folk artists will be on hand displaying their collections of unique Americana; ranging from whirligigs, gameboards, tramp art, and dolls, to braided and hooked rugs, paintings and papier mache creations. A $7 admission will be charged.

Self-taught sculptor Liz Mamorsky will be in attendance at the festival where she will be exhibiting her unique recycled-material sculptures along with other pieces of her work. Liz’s work resides in numerous public and private collections and can also be seen at LizLand.com and at her San Francisco Studio of Functional & Dysfunctional Art.

Laird Family Estate wines, refreshments and light appetizers will be served throughout the afternoon and attendees can enjoy live music provided by Pacific Chamber Jazz, all included with admission to the event.
