DALLAS, TX.-Art for Darfur announced "Exhibit Darfur" - which aims to move the needle on political action within second quarter of President Obama's term -a stop on the national art tour. With the tour already underway, "Exhibit Darfur" unites Americans with one voice in a call for action.

"Art for Darfur is honored to host Exhibit Darfur's national tour as it works to edify Americans on this very complex issue of injustice in Sudan," said Tiana Lightfoot, founder and co-director of Art for Darfur. "Art is a special way to communicate, in that the images do not need words. They simply demand action." Exhibit Darfur is integrated with Art for Darfur's annual silent auction to benefit Amnesty International's campaigns for Darfur, Saturday April 18th at 7:00pm.

The genocide in Darfur is indeed a complex and convoluted matter. Countless organizations, celebrities, academic institutions and even corporate citizens are engaged in the conversation, and continue to drive awareness and advocacy. As part of the national campaign, Genocide Prevention Month, Exhibit Darfur will provide opportunities for participants to learn more about Sudan and how they can be involved in ending genocide and promoting peace through organizations working to improve conditions in Sudan today.

"From global warming to endemic health issues, there is a lot of need for change out there," said Jeff Smith, Exhibit Darfur co-founder. "So at the end of the day, it's hard to say, 'we need your help more.' But after seeing authoritatively the injustices of Darfur, we created the exhibit to help put humanity first."

The exhibit is a collaboration of six notable photographers, each telling a different story of genocide: Long-time activist, Mia Farrow, is the exhibit's vanguard, with photography and footage shot in refugee camps surrounding the Sudan, Brian Steidle, whose images in The New York Times broke the story in 2004, shows the atrocities of war, Former Jane's Addiction band manager, Aaron Cohen, who has become known as the slave hunter in that region, and Pastor Heidi McGinnes illustrate the slave trade - how humans are bought out of slavery in exchange for cattle inoculations, Izabela Lundberg and Carol Rinehart unmask the face of hope, with images of survivors.

"We are fortunate to work with groups like Art for Darfur that bring a creative and diversified approach to raising awareness about a current monumental issue," said Jeff Smith. "Exhibit Darfur extends the conversation to invite in new thinking and new voices."
