SAINT LOUIS, MO.- The The Saint Louis Art Museum announces the selection of Michelle Shelley-Moseley as the 20102011 Romare Bearden Fellow.
A resident of Oklahoma, Shelley-Moseley attended the University of Central Oklahoma where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio arts as well as her Master of Education, with an emphasis in art. She was chosen from a field of more than a dozen applicants nationwide to become the Museum's 17th Bearden Fellow.
"Michelle's academic qualifications, coupled with her extremely warm personality made her an ideal candidate," said Renee Franklin, community partnerships director of the Museum. "The Bearden Fellowship is a proven vehicle to opening doors for individuals that would not otherwise be given the opportunity to work in Museums."
Established in 1991, the Romare Bearden Post-Graduate Minority Fellowship was created to increase diversity of professionals within notable art museums nationwide. The Bearden Fellow is responsible for teaching classes for the Museum's Arts in the Basic Curriculum program, participating in community outreach programs and assisting with curatorial projects.
