“Individuals who saw media coverage about The Dayton Foundation’s gift have agreed to fund this important next stage of the repair work.

DAYTON, OH.- Following the recent announcement of a $45,000 gift from The Dayton Foundation for roof repairs, The Dayton Art Institute has received a gift for the restoration of plaster work in the galleries and drainage repairs in the Italian Cloister.

“Individuals who saw media coverage about The Dayton Foundation’s gift have agreed to fund this important next stage of the repair work, and we are grateful for their support,” Executive Director Michael R. Roediger said. “This is another important step in our efforts to safeguard our permanent collection and move forward with new programs and exhibitions at the museum.”

The anonymous gift, made through a Charitable Donation Fund at The Dayton Foundation, will be used to restore plaster work in the museum galleries that has been damaged by roof leaks. Work is already underway in the Gray Gallery of 18th Century European Art and the Bieser Family Gallery of Late 19th Century French Art in the museum’s Berry Wing of European Art. The gift will also be used to repair drainage issues in the Italian Cloister that have caused water leaks in the museum’s lower level galleries.

“It’s gratifying to see the community make a positive difference toward the restoration and repair of our historic facility,” Roediger said. “As I have said previously, our museum facility has many ongoing maintenance needs, including repairs and upgrades to the parking lot, front steps and doors, just to name a few. Every contribution makes a difference and is greatly appreciated.”

Individuals and organizations interested in making a gift toward repair and maintenance needs at the museum may contact DAI’s Development Department, at 937-223-5277 , ext. 239. Donations may also be made online, at www.daytonartinstitute.org/annualfund.
