"Impressions of Reality" opens at the Customs House Museum in September
Camille’s work is in collections throughout the U.S.

CLARKSVILLE, TENN.- Internationally awarded Nashville visual artist Camille Engel will show her contemporary realism paintings in a rare solo exhibition from Sept. 20 through Nov. 4 at the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center in Clarksville, Tennessee. Impressions of Reality will feature her still lifes, trompe l’oeils, and her trademark birds.

“This is probably the busiest and most successful year I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t be more thrilled,” said Engel, whose work has been displayed and collected throughout the world. “It is rare for me to exhibit locally, so I’m looking forward to presenting this retrospective exhibition in my home state of Tennessee.” As an artist, Camille is amazed and fascinated with color and texture, seeking to capture the richness of life with her oils. What inspires her the most is not a singular cultural message, nor even the master painters she admires, but rather her core beliefs. “For me,” Engel explains, “every morning is a fresh opportunity to find extraordinary joy in the most ordinary things.”

Camille’s work is in collections throughout the U.S, including Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and Baptist Hospital in Nashville; as well as the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA, and Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Fine Art Connoisseur magazine named Camille Engel as “One of Our Nation’s Top 3 Artists to Watch” in 2010. The Customs House Museum’s exhibit includes the award-winning painting, “Sunflower at the Old Factory”, which won the 2007 cover competition of American Artist Magazine, and recently returned from a 12-city, three-year traveling museum tour being compared to a Vincent Van Gogh sunflower in an educational context. Also exhibiting will be several recognizable paintings that have been featured in national magazines such as American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, and Southwest Art, as well as Nashville Arts Magazine.
