Art San Diego 2013 collides into Balboa Park for fifth consecutive event year
The 2013 fair – a 4-day event – will feature over 60 regional, national and international exhibitors, talks and events focused on collecting contemporary art and furniture, and anticipates welcoming over 13,000 visitors.

SAN DIEGO, CA.- Art San Diego 2013 with presenting sponsor UBS Financial Services, is gearing up for its fifth edition from Thursday, Nov. 7 until Sunday, Nov. 10 at the Activity Center in Balboa Park at 2145 Park Boulevard. The theme of this year’s Art San Diego is [ Collide ] which comments on different types of creative intersections – cross-disciplinary, cross-national, from art to film, from street to urban – and how they manifest in both a visual and social setting. ASD will open to the PRESS and VIP’s on Thursday, Nov. 7, with the First Preview and the highly anticipated VIP Opening Night.

“Art San Diego 2013 provides a new spin on the art fair concept – offering attendees a more interactive environment to explore. Traditional exhibition design is co-mingled with public and performance spaces – many of these spaces call on the attendees to participate or engage in an immersive experience,” explains ART SAN DIEGO founder and executive director, Ann Berchtold. “A center lounge, which will be designed by students from the New School of Architecture and Design, using a product called ECOR (from recycled materials) to design the furniture will act as the pulse of the fair – promoting movement, exchange, conversations and collisions.

The 2013 fair – a 4-day event – will feature over 60 regional, national and international exhibitors, talks and events focused on collecting contemporary art and furniture, and anticipates welcoming over 13,000 visitors. This is a projected 30% increase in 2013. Attendance has increased by an average of 30-50% over each of the past four years.

Art San Diego 2013 will open to the PRESS and VIP’s on Thursday, November 7th with the First Preview and the highly anticipated VIP Opening Night. The Fair will run November 8th -10th.
