NEW YORK, NY.- Frederico Sève Gallery presents Formations, a selection of paintings, drawings, photography and scuplture by Patricia Claro, Andre Cypriano, Alicia Ehni, Gego, Elizabeth Jobim, Gabriela Machado, Conrad Marca-Relli, Emilio Sanchez, Fanny Sanin, Mario Velez from September 5th to October 12. This exhibition features an array of artist and works that explore this intricate dialogue that can exist among the Organic and the Geometric formations. Despite the fact that in essence Organic and Geometric formations can be concerned each other’s counterpart the result of this juxtaposition is harmonious and lyrical.

As seen very clearly in the works of Mario Velez, who’s work has been said by Luis Fernando Valencia that “... under forceful control and with endless patience, the pictorial elements converse with each other.” All of these works in “Formations” could in fact stand alone to bring forth the life and energy of these juxtaposing concepts.

The three works included in this exhibition by the well known artist Fanny Sanin, are not of her trademark linear and geometrically style but instead watercolor works from the late 60’s. Study for Oil No. 3, Watercolor and Watercolor 4, they display this conversation of free organic shapes and promise to be a special treat for those who follows her career.

Marca-Relli’s extraordinary painting from 1962 brings our attention to texture and experimentation, while perpendicular across Emilio Sanchez’ abstracted windows, makes use of watercolor and paper as a means to elegantly simplify shapes and light.

Frederico Sève is a leading authority in the art world who has been instrumental in bringing unknown Latin American artists to New York and propelling them onto the greater forefront of the international scene for the last forty-five years. He is credited with having discovered Carmen Herrera, the pioneer of Latin American Modernism, whom he instantly launched onto a worldwide platform after she received her first show at the Frederico Sève Gallery in 2004. Under Mr. Sève’s direction, now-acclaimed artists, such as Gego, Mira Schendel, Maria Fernanda Cardoso, and others, were exhibited at the Frederico Sève Gallery years before they reached their current status.
