SP-Arte announces list of galleries for 2014 and 'Solo' a new exhibitor sector

SAO PAULO.- From 2 – 6 April 2014, SP-Arte, the São Paulo International Art Fair 2014, will return for its 10th year as Latin America’s leading international contemporary art fair. Featuring 137 of the best Brazilian and international galleries from 18 countries across the globe, SP-Arte/2014 will include 15 more galleries than the 2013 fair. For its 10th anniversary, SP-Arte will present 78 Brazilian galleries and 59 international galleries, while introducing a distinctive programme of cultural and educational events, a new exhibitor sector, ‘Solo’, curated by Rodrigo Moura and will show a number of emerging galleries for the first time.

For SP-Arte/2014, 137 galleries across North America, South America and Europe will display diverse art from Modern Masters to cutting edge contemporary works within the iconic setting of Oscar Neimeyer’s famous São Paulo Bienal Pavilion. Returning international galleries include David Zwirner (US), Cristophe Van de Weghe (US), Gagosian Gallery (US), Lia Rumma (Italy), Neugerriemschneider (Germany), Pace (US), Galerie Peter Kilchmann (Switzerland), Yvon Lambert (France), Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac (Austria), White Cube (UK), Lisson Gallery (UK) and renowned Brazilian galleries returning for 2014 include Galeria Nara Roesler (São Paulo), Galeria Luisa Strina (São Paulo), Fortes Vilaça (São Paulo), Vermelho (São Paulo) and A Gentil Carioca (Rio de Janeiro). The fair is also delighted to welcome Natalie Serousi (France) , Kurimanzutto (Mexico), Michael Werner (US), Marian Goodman Gallery (US), Stephen Friedman (UK), Sies & Hoeke (Germany), Cardi (Italy), and Mayoral (Spain) who will be showing at SP-Arte for the first time in 2014. This year, SP-Arte will introduce ‘Solo’, an exciting new exhibitor sector. Compiled by leading Brazilian Curator and Director of Inhotim, Rodrigo Moura, the sector will show cutting edge emerging art from 14 diverse galleries including Henrique Faria (US), Instituto de Visión (Colombia), Ivan Gallery (Romenia), Travesia Cuatro (Spain), PSM (Germany), Maisterravalbuena (Spain), Ruth Benzacar (Argentina), and Nara Roesler (Brazil). The ‘Showcase’ sector, returning for its second year, will display works by three selected artists from 22 galleries including Athena Contemporânea (Rio de Janeiro), Marcia Barrozo do Amaral (Rio de Janeiro) and Galeria Pilar (São Paulo). Through this sector, the 2014 edition of the fair will present a selection of international galleries that have not exhibited at SP-Arte before, i ncluding Galeria Plan B (Germany), Kavi Gupta (US), Esther Woerdehoff (France), Johannes Vogt (US), Nosco (UK), and Hus Gallery (UK).
