LONDON.- As a former Ferrari Works driver, British Formula One hero Nigel Mansell excelled in a career that spanned fifteen seasons. Considered by many to be among the greatest of racing drivers, hes famed with winning both the 1992 Formula One World Championship and the 1993 CART Indy Car World Series the first and only person to hold both titles simultaneously.
With 31 wins and despite 32 crashes, Mansell became the most successful British driver and ranks third in the world in fastest laps, fourth in wins and fifth in poles (taking the front pole position at the start of a race).
Philip Kantor,
Bonhams European Head of Motoring, said: The 1989 Ferrari F40 offered at Bonhams sale was delivered new to Nigel Mansell in 1989. A fierce and exciting racing driver, many remember him for his win or lose performance - risk taking and breath taking to the end of the finish line.
As the last Ferrari conceived and built before Enzo Ferraris death, the design and its ownership lineage make the F40 a highly desirable motor car for any fan of Ferrari and Formula One racing.
Finished in Rosso Corsa red with a custom works beige leather interior, the F40s styling remains in original condition. In perfect working order, the F40 is set at an estimated value of 600,000-800,000 (£480,000-640,000).
Bonhams Zoute Sale takes place on 10th October in Knokke-Le-Zoute, Belgium.
