PALM SPRINGS, CA.- Palm Springs Art Museum announced today it is the recipient of a $25,000 grant from Bank of America as part of the Charitable Foundation Awards. Bank of America awarded grants to 18 nonprofits that provide community development opportunities and affordable housing across the Inland Empire, with a total of $242,500 being awarded.

Palm Springs Art Museum received the grant based on it’s exceptional role in connecting diverse communities to arts and cultural programs through a variety of important exhibitions, innovative educational programming, and interactive engagement with community days and activities. The museum connects low-income households to the arts through a variety of measures, including free admission to the Palm Desert location all year and every day, free Second Sundays at the main museum, and free admission Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. at the main museum and the Architecture and Design Center, Edwards Harris Pavilion. In addition, beginning in October, admission will be free to the Architecture and Design Center as well.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by Bank of America for our continued involvement with the community with this generous grant,” said Elizabeth Armstrong, The JoAnn McGrath Executive Director for Palm Springs Art Museum. “The funds will be instrumental in bringing additional programming to the community, further enhancing the art experience and making art and culture available to everyone.”

Funds from the grant will be used for advancements and improvements in the overall museum experience, additional education initiatives, and further outreach to the museum’s audiences, while providing access to diverse arts and cultural experiences.
