MADRID.- The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport is presenting Cecilia Paredes: Oyendo con los Ojos| Listening with the Eyes, new works by internationally renowned artist Cecilia Paredes.

The work of Peruvian artist Cecilia Paredes travels from the natural and cultural history through a maze of images to be reread, rethought, and rewritten. In her photographs and installations, we redeem errors, acquire knowledge about ourselves, and uncover how the human species establishes its relationship with nature.

The humility of the materials included in her works serves to claim an awareness of our position in the world and simultaneously contains reflections on women, religion, art, politics and power. Her work constantly relies on metaphors and symbols of the past visited from the present and the aesthetic blanket covering her critical positions on human beings is an invitation, impregnated with artificial beauty that encourages thought on the urgent need to restore ethics and fairness in all our actions.

Just concluding a successful solo-exhibition of recent photography at Ruiz-Healy Art in San Antonio, Cecilia Paredes: The Wandering Flight closed October 10th.

Tabacalera is housed within a former tobacco factory in Madrid and the building is managed by the Ministry since 2003. The promotions of fine arts are developed with a permanent program and temporary exhibitions.
