DALLAS, TX.- One of the most important guitars in rock’n’roll history helped drive the final total for Heritage Auctions’ Entertainment & Music Memorabilia Auction to nearly $2 million when Stevie Ray Vaughan Owned and Stage-Played "Jimbo" Electric Guitar sold for $250,000.

The weekend’s final total was $2,895,169.50.

“The Stevie Ray Vaughan guitar is such an important piece of music history, because it was the first professional-grade guitar ever owned by Stevie Ray Vaughan, who is regarded universally as one of the greatest guitarists of all time,” Heritage Auctions Entertainment & Music Memorabilia Director Garry Shrum said. “He got it from his brother, Jimmie, who founded the Fabulous Thunderbirds, which only adds the historical significance of the instrument.”

A 'Style B' Half-Sheet Movie Poster from "Casablanca." Warner Bros., 1942 sparked multiple bids from collectors before selling for $56,250. One of the rarest posters ever printed for one of the most beloved films ever made, the Style B format features a series of portraits that spotlight the plot’s most important characters.

A slew of weapons, creatures and artwork from the collection of Star Trek propmaster and visual effects producer Dan Curry generated eager pursuit by numerous fans. The top Curry-created lot was the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Sword of Kahless Display Prop Designed by Visual Effects Supervisor Dan Curry (1995), which raced past its pre-auction estimate before going for $50,000.

Collectors again knew a good thing when they saw it, driving an Elvis Presley WSM Grand Ole Opry City Auditorium Concert Poster (1955) to more than four times its pre-auction estimate, closing at $42,500. Just a year after starting his professional career with the legendary Sun Records label in Memphis, Presley performed at the Memorial Auditorium in Raleigh, North Carolina as part of a Grand Ole Opry All Star Jamboree. This poster was printed by Hatch Show Print of Nashville, and is the only known copy in existence.

The biggest sleeper in the auction may well have been the Jimi Hendrix Experience - Massive Group of Photo Negatives with Contact Sheets and Copyright (Germany, 1967), which realized $40,000 – 16 times its pre-auction estimate. The enormous collection of black-and-white negatives includes shots of the legendary guitarist performing on state, in candid and backstage shots with fans and meeting the press during his band’s stay in Germany in March 1967, just months before Hendrix, Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell gained worldwide acclaim at the Monterey Pop Festival.

Hendrix made a second appearance in the auction’s top five lots when a Jimi Hendrix-Owned and -Played 8-String Hagstrom H8 Bass Guitar realized $35,000. Produced between 1967 and 1969, the instrument was made famous by the musicians who played it while accompanying some of music’s elite artists, including Noel Redding (who played with Hendrix), John Entwistle (The Who), John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) and Mike Rutherford (Genesis). Hendrix himself played the Hagstrom H8 – perhaps this one, which is one of two he owned – on the Electric Ladyland album on the songs 1983 and Burning of the Midnight Lamp.

The auction included a collection of lots from famed crooner Frank Sinatra, including:

Also featured was a collection of Marilyn Monroe photographs and memorabilia, including:

· A Marilyn Monroe-Signed Black and White Photograph, Circa 1953: $13,750

· A Marilyn Monroe- and Joe DiMaggio-Signed Menu from Their Honeymoon, 1954: $6,875
