Davis Museum appoints Kara Schneiderman to leadership team
Schneiderman was previously Director of Collections for Harvard University’s Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, where she directed the departments of collections management, archives, registration, and conservation.

WELLESLEY, MASS.- Lisa Fischman, Ruth Gordon Shapiro Director of the Davis Museum at Wellesley College, has appointed Kara Schneiderman as the Associate Director for Operations and Collections Management effective June 3. Schneiderman will work closely with Fischman on the overall management of the Davis Museum’s growing collections and the long-term strategic planning of the institution. Schneiderman will also oversee financial management, museum technology, security and facilities, and daily operations for the Davis.

“Kara has an impressive history of managing major collections in prestigious institutions,” said Lisa Fischman. “Her expertise will be critical as we move into the next phase of the Davis as the collections continue to expand in breadth and depth.”

Schneiderman was previously Director of Collections for Harvard University’s Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, where she directed the departments of collections management, archives, registration, and conservation. Prior to her tenure at Harvard, Schneiderman was the Assistant Director for Collections and Exhibition Services and Museum Registrar at the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami, and has held collections positions at the Louisiana State Museum, George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Museum.

Schneiderman earned master’s degrees at Simmons College and University of Miami, and a bachelor’s degree at Barnard College. Schneiderman is a graduate of the Getty Leadership Institute and serves as an American Alliance of Museum's Museum Assessment Program peer reviewer.
